Inspiration |
How it all began,
my Journey to jewellery Making
• At the start of my journey I was inspired by a visit by Victorian Costume Museum & Art Gallery’s Costume Departments in Platt Hall Manchester,
Victorian Costumes & Basques and after my degree show in 1999
• My Felt was inspired during my HND at Cardiff College of Art in 1994 to 1996 during a project at Cardiff Castle from William de Morgan Tiles Arts & Crafts Designer who was commissioned to design a collection of tiles in the castle |
Background |
• I studied at Cardiff College of Art and Design between
1994 to 1996, which resulted in a passion for Art, Textiles and Fashion. I then attended the Northern College of Art, graduating in 1999, with a BA Honours Degree in International Textiles - specialising in Embroidery and Printed Textiles.
• 1998 Work experience with Zandra Rhodes at Bermondsey House which is now a fashion museum owned by Zandra herself
• 1999 My final show was based on Victorian costumes and wire neck pieces & after I graduated my work went on show at all local gallery’s including 1999-2001 Sunderland Glass Museum,
1999-2001 Hartlepool Art Gallery in the Church,
1999-2003 Newcastle Art Centre & Gallery
